The Graduate Institute of European Studies (afterwards “the Institute”) established in 1971 is the first institute that offers master-programme for European Studies in Taiwan. The Institute has focused its research on the process of the European Integration. The courses cover a wide range of studies including the history of the European movement, the interaction of the European Institutions, the evolution of the European policies and the external relations of the EU. It aims to cultivate well-trained researchers on EU affairs. The achievements of the Institute are highly recommended by the European Commission. In 1979 the European Commission funded the first European Info Centre (EDI) in Taiwan to set up in the Institute. It is still the only EDI in Taiwan.
Established in 1971, the Graduate Institute of European Studies offers a variety of courses for the master’s degree (average two to four years of study) in the fields of European Integration and European Union studies, such as European politics, security, economic, social and cultural affairs. From 2000 on, our Institute offers Ph.D. Programs of the same fields as master’s degree.
