    Abstract: 臺灣於1993年65歲以上老人人口比率已超過7%,正式進入高齡化社會,且高齡者人口比例正快速增加中。依行政院經建會推估(行政院經濟建設委員會,2010),台灣在2017年高齡者人口占總人口比率將超過14%,台灣將成為高齡社會,而活力老化是大家期待的高齡化或高齡社會。運輸與高齡者社會參與網絡和醫療照顧服務是息息相關 的,為提高高齡者生活品質與生活滿意度,高齡者交通運輸是相當重要的研究議題。本研究申請三年期的研究計畫,本研究以促進高齡者運輸安全與生活品質為研究主軸,針對高齡者最重要的運輸安全問題,發展交通安全教育教案。本研究希望能了解在高齡化社會中,交通運輸(包括交通安全問題之教育面和工程面改善與公共運輸服務)、社會參與網絡、高齡者心理與生理功能、高齡者生活品質的互相影響關係。本研究會針對教育面和工程面,提出活力老化社會之交通運輸環境建構的短期目標與長期目標,並提出具體相關策略之建議。
    Taiwan’s population reached the 7% thresholdin 1993 (i.e., 7% of its total population consists of adults aged 65 or older). The percentage of older adults within Taiwanese society continues to grow rapidly. According to estimates by the Council for Economic Planning and Development of Executive Yuan in Taiwan, the senior population will account for 14% of Taiwanese society by 2017, and Taiwan will become an aged society then. Active aging is desired for an aging society or aged society. Transportation is the link connecting individuals to their social networks and medical care and services. To enhance the quality of life and satisfaction of life for the elderly, transportation is an important topic for the elderly. This is a three-year project and focuses on the study subjects of promotions of transportation safety and quality of life for the elderly. This study will develop road safety education courses for the elderly to educate them how to deal with their major transportation problems. It will be investigated that the relationships between traffic and transportation (including transportation safety problems and public transportation services), social networks, medical care and services and quality of life for the elderly. Finally, this project provides specific short-term and long-term goals and strategies relating to the transportation for establishing an activity aging society.
