Curing condition would affect the quality of cement-based composites. Properly cured concrete can have good hydration process and improve strength development, reduce porosity and permeability. This study is aimed to evaluate effect of curing condition on the properties of silica fume concrete. Test results demonstrate that (1) for 23.degree.C-water curing, silica fume concrete has higher compressive strength than normal concrete and 10% silica fume application has highest strength; (2) 48-hour compressive strength of 180.degree.C-steam cured silica fume specimen is about 97~104% of 28-day compressive strength of normal specimen subject to 23.degree.C-water curing;(3) compressive strength, chloride ion penetration and water absorption of specimen are correlated and silica fume concrete has more prominent permeation resistance than normal concrete; and (4) SEM micrographs demonstrate autoclaved silica fume concrete has densest micro structure.
