This paper presents a production inventory model for deterioratingitems with a ramp type demand rate. The production rate at any instantdepends on the demand. The proposed model allows for shortages, andexcess demand is full backlogged as well. Depending on the optimalproduction stopping time t/sub 1/, two different situations may arise(l) t/sub 1/ > μ(Case 1) and (2) t/sub 1/ <=μ(Case 2). Our purposeis to find the optimal production strategy that minimizes the totalaverage cost per unit time of system.
