    Abstract: Catalysts of V/sub 2/O/sub 5//TiO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/, WO/sub 3//TiO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/, VSbO/sub 4//TiO/sub 2/- SiO/sub 2/ and V/sub 2/O/sub 5/-WO/sub 3//TiO/sub 2/- SiO/sub 2/ were prepared, using a sol-gel method for preparing catalytic support (TiO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/) and a modified impregnation method for coating the active compounds on the supports. The results indicated that the ratios of H/ sub 2/O/alkoxides and pH of starting solution in the sol-gel process affected the morphology of the resultant oxides. There was a definite value of H/sub 2/O/alkoxides ratio to get the highest specific surface area in any pH conditions. The active compounds were well coated on TiO/sub 2/-SiO/sub 2/ supports via the modified impregnation method.
