1.The purpose of this study is to examine the roles played by two aboriginal news programs in Taiwan's Public Television from the audience's point of view. Data were collected from 12 focus group interviews. Findings show that aboriginal audience expected the two programs to play three roles: as the bridge between government and the aboriginal communities; providing useful information to help adaptation to the dominant society; contributing to ethnic cohesion and cultural maintenance.
