    摘要: 本論文系列一,六炔苯基苯末端接上酯基,探討藉由酯基相對於烷鏈拉電子力的提高,是否造成苯環上π-π作用力對於盤型液晶分子排列與其液晶性質的影響。另一部分則延續實驗室成員所合成出的含氰之六炔苯基苯盤狀液晶的概念,設計在六炔苯基苯中的第六個側臂換上酯類官能基,對液晶性質及其雙光軸特性進行探討。
    系列二第一部分則探討X狀分子的衍生化合物,每個側臂引入環己烷,利用環己烷在空間中可以船形 (boat form) 姿態不斷翻轉,藉此特性增加末端鏈的擾動性,以達到降低熔點及澄清點的成效。其結果液晶性質為向列型液晶相,並且以粉末x光繞射驗證在225度具有雙光軸特性。
    第二部分設計摻混掌性添加劑在向列相液晶分子中,製備形成奈米粒子,再經由紫外光聚合作用形成奈米粉體,並驗證製備後的奈米粒子不會因為受熱的影響產生聚集 (aggregating)。實驗結果已經利用動態光散射(DLS)和透射電子顯微鏡 (TEM)相互驗證奈米粒子不會聚集,並且具備製造70-80 nm大小的奈米粒子技術。
    A series of hexaynylphenylbenzene incorporated with ester group (OCOR and COOR) into flexible alkyl chains was synthesized. Relative to alkyl chains, ester groups with richer electron withdrawing power were expected to increase intermolecular π-π interactions between phenyls of hexaynylphenylbenzene. Hence, the discotic liquid crystal properties of the synthesized ester containing compounds were studied. Also, comparing with reported previously 11 , we introduced an additional ester group into one alkyl chain of hexaynylpheneylbenzene. The liquid crystal characteristics and the biaxial optical property were discussed.
    The structure-property relationship of liquid crystalline of X shaped molecules derived compounds behaviors was also discussed. In the second series, cyclohexane was used to replace one phenyl group of biphenyl. Cyclohexane can take advantage of boat form constantly flip gesture in the space, and increase terminal chain disturbance characteristics to do reduce the effectiveness of the melting point and clearing points. The liquid crystal behaviors was studied, and further biaxial optical properties was verified by the powder x-ray diffraction.
    The second part of the thesis, the chiral additives nematic liquid crystal molecules were synthesized to form nanoparticles. And then polymerized by UV curing to form nano-powders, the mutual nanoparticles won’t be affected by heat to aggregation was been approved. The results were studied by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). And the technology of the preparation of 70-80 nm sized nanoparticles was mature.
