This research aims to expound in depth the operating performance of the foreign banks and the domestic banks in Mainland China, which uses the CAMELS ratings system with financial variables to analyze their financial statement separately, and supported by the SWOT matrix to explore the business strategy in China. Finally, it analyzes the operating performance of the domestic banks with the income statements. This study, with the limited resources, therefore mainly focuses on the foreign banks in China. The subject matter of the profound paper involves 14 foreign banks during 2008 to 2011 and 10 domestic banks before April, 2013 in China. With the field study can be concluded as below:
1.The foreign banks’ asset scale is not as grand as the banks of China, and the earning-profitability is just the moderate compared with the latter.
2.Foreign banks fetch the core profit from the direct term loan.
3.Foreign banks should focus their developing business on corporate banking as well as private banking business to create differential marketing and customer segmentation strategy.
4.Foreign banks may keep and develop their heart of capability and superb experience on the risk management for covering the business risk.
5.Domestic banks will play their term loan business as a main profit source.
6.Domestic banks, to a credit degree, should be staunch supporters of import-oriented enterprises of Taiwan.
7.Empirical analysis of operating performance of domestic banks, find that the profit is influenced by the operating revenue along with operating expenses.
While banks of China acquire great benefit from the high interest rate stimulating both foreign banks along with domestic banks with incentives to enter China’s market, it conceals the management risk that cannot be ignored. In the same terms, how to control the business risk with healthy profit, especially assuming positive attitude toward unfamiliar enterprise-manageable environment inclusive of business enter mode, geographical choice decision and business promotion in China, has become a critical issue of the banks.
