摘要:	Distance Learning and Virtual University research is one of the mostimportant issues in the literature of Internet and DistributedSystems. The paper starts from the discussion of current distancelearning approaches, with a highlight of some potential researchproblems. State-of-the-art technologies toward partial solutions ofsuch problems will be discussed. The paper also covers some importantresearch projects such as communication tools for virtual universityoperations, as well as instruction design and assessment systems. Themethodologies to support the design of these systems rely on threevirtual university operation criteria: administration, awareness, andassessment. The conclusion of this paper will cover suggestions anddirections to the potential future university operations.
