    Abstract: The flapping UAVs or micro-air-vehicles (MAVs) lack a systematic procedure of concept design so far. A feasible way to generate the probable MAV dimension is by the scaling laws of natural flyers. Through surveying the scaling laws, the authors proposed a new idea of splitting a larger flapping UAV into a group of smaller MAVs (swarm). The corresponding formation flight concept of flapping MAVs is addressed as well.
