本文主要是從《美國社會科課程標準》一書的文本(text)出發，探討其緣起和發展、內容要點和定位。其次，從社會科的定義、教材選取原則、課程組織、預期表現、教學活動設計等方面來說明《美國社會科課程標準》的特色。復次，從地方分權、課程多元化、教學專業自主、社會科教育趨勢等評價規準，對美國社會科課程標準加以評析。最後，提出我國發展中小學課程綱要的啟示。 This article, based on the text of the US Curriculum Standards for Social Studies, aimed to investigate its origin, development, content, and legitimate status. From the aspects of the definition of social studies, content selection, curriculum organization, performance expectations, instructional activities, this article also attempted to demonstrate the major properties of the Curriculum Standards for Social Studies. Moreover, analyses of the Standards were made, based on the criteria such as curricular decisions, curricular multiplicity, professional autonomy, and the trends of social studies. Finally, suggestions were made to shed lights on the current development of Taiwanese elementary and secondary curriculum standards.
