This study investigates the relationship between the births timing and spacing and women's labor supply. With women's age of first marriage increasing, women have less time to complete fertility. Once the longer birth spacing, the less will be the number of births. This would be more detrimental to fertility rate! This study considers the heterogeneity between births timing and spacing and the effects on women’s labor supply. We use a multi-year cross-sectional data from Women's Marriage, Fertility and Employment Survey in Taiwan to examine the relationships. Duration model is employed for births timing and spacing analysis. Endogeneity between fertility and labor supply is also considered for our empirical estimations. In order to stimulate the fertility rate and protect women's employments, we suggest the government should take into account the heterogeneity of the effects of births timing and spacing on labor supply.
