Abstract: The restaurant industry is one of the most difficult industries to operate efficiently because the prime costs of labor and food can take up as much as two thirds of sales for full-service restaurants. Restaurant operators need to find a simple evaluation
method to help them in deciding their star product for sales promotion. This study
addressed a case of Chinese restaurant selecting the best product to be featured in its annual product promotion through the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method. Taking into consideration the opinions of decision makers, evaluation criteria and weighting setting were decided and then applied. Finally, this study proved that the TOPSIS method can be utilized in the group decision topic of discussion and can be guided in the subsequent related studies.
