This study investigates the effects of obesity on wages in the labor market by means of experiments and an empirical analysis. Experiment design can help us to find out the reactions of employers facing various appearances of employees, while an empirical analysis is a post estimation for us to examine the wage discrimination in the labor market. Our results for both of experiments and empirical analysis show that obesity is a primary cause of wage discrimination, especially for obese females. In addition, Qaxaca(1973) wage decomposition method is used to decompose the proportion of wages, so that we can measure the ratios of obesity discrimination among the overall wage discrimination.
