An alternative alpha-level cut for solving multiobjective nonlinear structural design problems with fuzzy resources were developed and proposed in this paper. The conventional standard alpha-cut method of fuzzy linear programming (FLP) inspired this development of innovative fuzzy nonlinear programming (FNLP) solution method. The conventional alpha-cut method applied on FNLP problems, the proposing novel formulation, and their inter-relations were simultaneously presented in this paper. The structural design example generally illustrated that the presenting approach notably analogy to the max-alpha method. Linear or nonlinear membership func tions of objective functions can be selected by designer depending on the real situations of design objectives. The presenting alternative alpha-level cut approach guaranteed to obtain the unique optimum design on multiobjective nonlinear engineering problems with fuzzy resources.
