The seismic capacity of buildings stems from the strength and ductility to withstand
earthquakes, and the seismic capacity, Ac ' is the ground acceleration which causes buildings
collapse when earthquakes occur. The seismic capacity evaluation in this paper makes use of
the member dimensions and properties of the buildings to get the strength, ductility, and
failure mode of elements. According to them, we can calculate structural ultimate strength
and ductility to evaluate buildings. In addition to this, we take some school buildings for
example to evaluate the seismic capacity. In accordance with the insufficiency of seismic
capacity, we also make several plans to enhance the seismic capacity and compare the plans
to provide suggestions for the strengthening design .
