Abstract: The 2012 presidential election of Venezuela holds the key to the continuation of the Bolivarian Revolution in that country. President Hugo Chávez is a key link in the chain of leaders opposing the United States global policy, and has openly challenged many multinationals linked to US or European interests. He is also a charismatic and popular leader elected by the people; his reelection would further legitimize his leadership and the Bolivarian Revolution. The United States
perceived Chávez as a challenger and a threat, but in the present situation of deep engagement in the problems of Afghanistan, Iraq, Middle East, North Korea, and other areas does not seem to have a priority option for Latin America. This paper
studies analysis of different post-electoral scenarios, and statements and perceptions in the United States and Venezuela to offer recommendations and suggest prospects for the future relations between the US and Venezuela, and
    Latin America in general.
