This workshop is designed to help elementary school teachers who are searching for a way
to motivate young learners toward the study of English, and to more rapidly enhance their students'
listening and speaking communicative skills. The presenters will demonstrate how instructors
can easily manipulate and enhance available videotape materials for use in the elementary
school English classroom. This workshop will first offer a hands-on examination of the technology
necessary for the creation of these valuable teaching materials. The presenters will then
provide a practical and detailed lesson plan that can be created for children, using the performance
of the song "Do-Re-Mi" as excerpted from the film The Sound of Music. Other classroom
activities will also be suggested, many of which are built around the video tape, "Sing Along
Songs: Disneyland Fun" to motivate students' English learning with their favorite characters from
Disney animation films. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to assist teachers who are serious
about finding more efficient and highly motivating methods and the materials that can be used to
help students experience both pleasure and success in their English language classroom.
