Introduction: 化學工程與材料工程學系原為化學工程學系，日間部成立於1971年，隨後成立夜間部於1972年。研究所碩士班於1992年成立，並自2001年起成立博士班。畢業系友迄今已超過三千人，深植於產業界及學術界。近年來為迎接新世代科技時代的來臨，並對學校之整體教育、服務及發展有正面的貢獻，自92學年度起(2003年)更名為「化學工程與材料工程學系」，並致力新課程之規劃與調整。
The Department of Chemical Engineering was founded in 1971 with the mission of providing the intellectual community with high quality education pertinent to the chemical engineering discipline, in response to the explosive growth of petroleum and chemical industries. At that time, a 4-year undergraduate curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Science degree was offered. And since the first class graduated in 1975, the department has to date more than 3000 alumni who contribute to various industrial areas around the world. The department was renamed to Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering in 2003.
