Abstract: In spite of Taiwan’s unique environment, its experience can inspire other developing counterparts in successfully incubating adaptive entrepreneurship for exploiting international market opportunities. As a dominant leader in the container lock industry, Formosa Forges gets to enjoy economies of scale in manufacturing as well as providing service, building high entry barriers for late comers to surpass. In the 1980s, Formosa Forges, a developing-nation based company in the industrial sector, with the status as the market leader faced the challenges from the advanced world. Its competitors from the United States, Japan, Germany and Spain tried to follow its ways— these companies felt that by manufacturing products in China, the so-called "world's workshop", they could duplicate the results. However, after many years, no these companies has succeeded like Formosa Forges has.
