Introduction: 淡江大學工學院的前身為工學部，成立於1966年，至1980年升格為工學院，期間共十四年，為基礎發展期，孜孜矻矻於培育學養兼備之優秀工程人才。1980年至1996年共16年，為本院之積極開創期，在學校大力支持下，成長茁壯，師資陣容逐年提升，儀器設備更新增添，且新工學大樓興建完成並設置完善的資訊電腦網路。工學院現有八個學系：建築、土木、水環、化材、機電、航太、電機與資工，每系皆設有研究所碩士班，其中水環、資訊、土木、電機、機電及化材等學系並設有博士班。八系所共有七十餘間實驗室，皆有專人管理及維護，並支援各系之實驗教學與研究需要。
Since its establishment in 1966 as the Division of Engineering, the College of Engineering has undertaken the mission of training up intellectual engineers. It was fully developed as a college in 1980. The period between 1980 and 1996 was the initial stage of the College of Engineering. The College was developing stably under the school’s support, and this stage witnessed the growth of faculty, the establishment of Engineering Building, and the development of modern computer networks. In this developmental stage, the College devoted to curriculum reform, promotion of academic research and exchanges. The College of Engineering has been the cradle of elite engineers nationwide.
