The mental health issue has been wildly investigated in psychology(e.g., Diener, 1984; Smith, 2008). However, the research on the general psychological well-being among social workers has remained scarce, especially in Taiwan. Therefore, the study aimed to explore the relations among the sense of happiness, perceived social support, and personality traits among social workers in Taiwan. There were 409 social workers from various work sites in Taipei metropolitan area participated in this study. The results of this study indicated:
1.The sense of happiness among social workers in Taipei metropolitan area was below average (M=2.22; SD=.417). The sense of happiness varies due to their age, education degree, marriage status, work seniority, and religious belief.
2.Among the sources of social support (family, colleagues, and supervisors ), support from family ranked the highest(M=3.49; SD=.709); while the support from the supervisors scored the lowest(M=2.96; SD=.676).In terms of types of social support (emotion, evaluation, and information), emotion support ranked the highest (M=3.54; SD=.531),evaluation support the second(M=2.62;SD=.365),and instrumental support the lowest(M=2.14; SD=3.68).Together,the emotion support from family (M=3.69; SD=.830)
provided the best support for social workers in general; while the instrumental support from supervisor scored the lowest (M=2.35; SD=.712).

    3.Social workers, in general, exhibited rather agreeableness(M=4.69; SD=.628), conscientious(M=.451; SD=.636), extraverted(M=4.25; SD=.725), open(M=4.28; SD=.662), personality traits than neurotic characteristics(M=3.44; SD=695).

4.There are positive correlation between the sense of happiness and social support (r=.302; p<.01), regardless types and sources of social support, among social workers.

5.In terms of personality traits, the sense of happiness are positively correlated to extraversion (r=.499; p<.01), openness((r=.483; p<.01),conscientiousness (r=.383; p<.01), and agreeableness (r=.419; p<.01); and negatively correlated to neuroticism (r=-.340; p<.01).
