    Abstract: The connection between the extra solutions of the dispersion relations plus the unitary condition and the existence of unstable intermediary states is discussed. It is shown for the potential scattering that both lead to a resonance behaviour in the cross-section. The dispersion relation and the unitarity condition describe, therefore, a quantal system whose spectrum is enlarged by the inclusion of unstable intermediate states.
