Introduction: 本校為推展國內關於國際事務與戰略學術研究，培養此一領域之專業人才，於民國71年3月23日正式設立「國際事務與策略研究所」，授與碩士學位，成為國內民間第一所研究及教授戰略的高等學術單位，首任所長為皮宗敢將軍，復於72年3月更名為「國際事務與戰略研究所」( The Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies）。為落實政府獎勵終身學習政策，本所於民國88年在當時所長翁明賢博士任內，成立碩士在職專班，以提供國防部及各界社會就業人士進修國際事務與戰略專業之管道。本所之教育目標為替國家培育嫻熟國際事務與戰略之專業人才。博士班之目的在於培養高級之專業人才，可以獨立進行研究與教學，或從事國家安全政策之規劃與執行工作；碩士班為培養一般專業人才；碩士在職專班亦為培養一般專業人才，並期望有助於提升學生之職場工作效能。
Founded in 1983, the Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies (GIIASS) focuses on research in international politics, international security, regional affairs, and strategy. At present, we provide both Ph.D. and master programs for domestic and foreign students who are interested in international affairs or strategic studies.
