    Title: Impinging Flow in a Dump Combustor

    Abstract: The effects of impinging flow from side inlet to a dump combustor on the recirculating flow were analyzed. The two-equation model of turbulence was employed, and the basic CHAMPION numerical scheme with slight modification was used to solve the flow field. The calculated results were first jusfified by comparing with the experimental data of Chen and Chang (1981). It is found that the flow pattern is sensitively affected by the side inlet impinging flow with different inlet angles, different inlet positions, and different inlet flow rates.
