    Abstract: This essay is a critical reading of Sherwood Anderson's “Winesburg, Ohio” and N. Scott Momaday's “The Way to Rainy Mountain”, two contemporary place-based composite novels, which focus on the mobility of people in imagined and real communities. I will use Edward Soja's ideas of “thirdspace” and the “trialectics of spatiality” to analyze how two authors of the composite novels challenge, represent, or recreate a community concept by illustrating different social spaces and mobilities.
    本論文以美國白人作家安德生作品《小城故事》和美國原住民作家莫馬戴作品《雨山之道》為題材,比較兩部強調在地精神之連篇故事中所圖誌的社區想像。我將運用文化地理學家索亞的「第三空間」及「空間之三元辯證」概念分析兩位作家如何透過刻畫差異的社會空間與流動性以挑戰、再現或重建社區概念。
