摘要:	It reviews the causes of the Russo-Georgian War in 2008. The imprudence and miscalculation on the part of Georgian President Saakashvili is analyzed. Russian response to the unwise conduct of Saakashvili is considered as "disproportionate" in violation of international norms. The controversy of Russian recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia is explored as well. Russia's hasty recognition may cause a backfire in the long term. It notes Russian displeasure over the United States prior to the war. Russian. It believes that the Georgian aspiration for an early membership with NATO has annoyed Russia. Additionally, it studies the crisis management by the former U.S. President Bush as revealed in his memoirs. It traces the "reset" policy of the Obama Administration in dealing with Russia. The recent U.S. Senate ratification of the START II is taken as a sign of the reengagement between the Untied States and Russia.
