The Department was established in 1986, with the aim of training students to become transportation professionals in highway, railway, ocean, aviation, and urban transportation to fill the needs of national infrastructure, construction and economic development. Moreover, to help train advanced experts capable of conducting independent research and decision making for transportation circles as well as the related industries, a graduate program in transportation science was established in 1995 and has recruited qualified candidates.
Course design for the junior classes is focused on fundamental transportation courses as the weft and analytical management courses as the woof, whereas the senior classes emphasize not only the theoretical aspects of transportation courses, but also their interdisciplinarity, technology and practicality.
