Introduction: 本系於民國五十三年成立，初屬夜間部，開國內公共行政在職進修之先河，繼於民國七十八年增設日間部，奠定日後全系發展之契機。八十六學年度配合整體教育方針，夜間部一班轉型為正規教育，一班轉型為進修推廣教育學士班。為順應全球第三波民主化潮流，促進我國政治、經濟與社會之整體發展，並提昇學術研究與教育，成立公共政策研究所碩士班，於八十八學年度正式招生；公共政策研究所碩士在職專班，亦自九十二學年度起開始招生。本系另於101學年度因應學院整合政策，原於管理學院之下，現改隸屬於商管學院中。

The Department of Public Administration established in 1964, which is one of the oldest department at Tamkang University. In original, it offered bachelor degree for night students. To promote high-level human resource education, the department started a Day student program leading to bachelor’s degrees in August 1989. In 1999, the Department inaugurated a Master degree program that admits 18 students each year. In 2003, the Department initiated an EMPA degree program that admits 20 students each year.
