Via questionnaires, this survey aims to understand how elementary schools in Taipei area select their textbooks, and to describe the satisfaction level as well as implementation efficacy of responders about different ways of selections. Three hundreds and ninety-six valid questionnaires collected from elementary school administrators and teachers in Taipei area were analyzed. Statistical techniques such as ANOVA and regression analysis were conducted. The major findings are as follows. Firstly, responders who reported “actively involve in the selection process” have the highest satisfaction level as well as highest implementation efficacy, while those who reported “complete the process in a rush” have the lowest scale in both aspects. Among the participating schools, the schools located in Taipei County downtown as well as big schools that have 85 or more classes, have lower satisfaction level. Recommendations about how to improve the satisfactory and implementation efficacy on textbook selection are provided.
