摘要:	對外籍勞工的態度不僅是檢測一個社會發展品質程度的良好指標，也具有驗證一個國家在社會經濟發展過程中是否形成相對應多元社會文化價值的功能。然而國內過去十年來諸多有關外籍勞工議題的相關研究卻仍侷限於探討引進外勞的經濟效益評估與外勞可能引發的社會治安與公共衛生問題。易言之，外籍勞工所扮控演的角色被簡化還原為徒具經濟功能的商品。本研究擬就台灣地區民眾對外籍勞工的態度來探討台灣社會在快速變遷過程中產生何種價值體系來對應此歧異文化的衝擊。並討論有關對外籍勞工所可能產生不同面向的態度間差異：如社會距離、認知差距與社會容忍等，本研究也將進一步論當今台灣民眾對外籍勞工所持態度傾向與國際社會經濟網路與人口流動間所展現的政策意涵。本計畫將對台灣地區外籍勞工人口比較集中且較具高可見度的六個都會區居民從事實證調查。分別從兩個尺度的資料探討影響對外籍勞工態度的因素；一為結構性層面，包含經濟指數、犯罪率及人口組成特徵等；另一為個人層次變項－包含受訪者社經條件現況、社會心理取向、與外勞接觸情形以及都市居民特性等。針對態度傾向的測量，本研究將採用Multidimensional Scaling Method以區分不同面向態度的差異與相關性，再輔以量表信度分析、因素分析、與多元迴歸分析以檢證本研究之研究假設。 Attitudes toward foreign workers has been considered as an prominent indicator of the degree of development; it also has gained added significance as individual nation-states attempt to reconstruct its cultural and value identity in order to deal with increasing societal diversity. Over the last decade,however, a plenty of research has been confined to examine the debates over economic and welfare costs of legalizing the introduction of foreign workers. Stated differently, foreign workers are pure commodities and reduced to their economic function. Based upon societal attitudes towards foreign workers, the major objective of this research is to explore how Taiwanese will be able to deal with cultural diversity in the process of rapid social change. Besides,this research also propose to further discuss the differences among three separate dimensions of attitude, namely social distance, cognitive stereotypes, and social tolerance toward foreign workers. Additionally, this research will address the issue of attitudes toward foreign workers within international economic and labor network may foster some policy implications for surviving in the global society. A survey research will be conducted in six major metropolitan areas with high population densities of foreign workers. Both individual characteristics and contextual characteristics of city of residence will be incorporated for analysis. Multidimensional scaling method is adopted to differentiate interrelated perceptions of attitudes, followed by reliability tests, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis to scrutinize the research hypotheses.
