摘要: The museum exhibition is now no longer the arrangement of artefacts but the artwork itself. The 'thematised' museum exhibition is not only the curatorial practice, but also an artwork of architectural instalment with personal styles and architects become its significant authors. Moreover, the museum is less a static artefact than a mobile adaptor that must constantly accommodate exhibits travelled from other museums, both domestic and abroad. This paper therefore aims to deal with the architectural practice in thematised international travelling exhibition in the museum, arguing that the museum exhibition representing other culture through the complex of time and space should be understood as an artefact in the field of cultural production.
I examine the exhibition 'Memories of the Empire - collection from the National Palace Museum, Taipei', an international travelling exhibition from the National Palace Museum in Taipei to the Grand Palais in Paris in 1998. Jean-Mitchell Wilmotte's architectural attempts that applied Chinese cultural elements and the concepts of time-space in the French cultural context will be used as an analysing case.
