Five years later in 1963, the Department of Physics was officially established when the school was promoting a 4-year developing program, and expanding dormitories.
Emphases of the department are placed on both experiments and theories. The department has built laboratories and enhanced their equipment by purchasing books and instruments since 1963. In 1972, a master’s program was established. Two sections as physics and applied physics were set up in accordance with national economic policy. Then, the department has started to offer a doctoral program since 1991. In 2006, the Section of Physics was renamed as the section of Optoelectronics. Since the establishment of the department over 40 years ago, more than 3,000 students have graduated and have outstanding achievement whether in academic or industrial fields. Moreover, the department was honored as Excellent College of Science by the Ministry of Education in 1975 and 1979.
