    Abstract: 在資訊化的世界裡,人文與科技的結合是很重要的。圖書館是一種文明的象徵、文化的指標,也是人力素質的展現。圖書館的蓬勃發展正足以代表著一個國家人民的知識水平,也正呈現出該一國家的競爭力。終身繼續自我導向學習,將成為未來教育的主流。公共圖書館逐漸成為民眾學習、教育之中心, 以圖書館為節點,運用網路輸送學習資源訊息至學習者手中,不僅可達成讀者與圖書館間的供需平衡,且可帶來資源共享、降低成本等效益。
    As a result of the rapid growth of information technology rapidly develop, libraries now deploy automation systems to improve their services. In the past few years, the government spent 360 million NT dollars on public library automation systems. How did it work? Was it worth while? In what direction are library automation systems heading? All these questions and issues this paper will discuss. The paper reviews automation systems of the public library first. Then through data
    analysis the authors also propose suggestions for the public library automation systems in the near future.
