    Abstract: The effects of plate spacing on the separation of heavy water from water-isotopes mixture in flat-plate thermal diffusion columns with transverse sampling stream, have been investigated. Considerable improvement in performance with fixed operating expense is obtainable if the plate spacing is suitably adjusted, resulting in suppressing the undersirable remixing effect while still preserving the desirable cascading effect.
