二、若改為他種格式 – 全體換成MARC 21可減低維護成本與書目交換時的遺漏，唯須確保其研訂華語資料相關內容之完整性。若全體改為其他metadata則可擴張資料交換的來源，提高圖書館館藏在各界之能見度。 This research aims to examine CMARC utilization of the university libraries in Taipei. Standing on literature review, the international studies and developments are also investigated. By survey research method, 8 professional are interviewed for the comments of CMARC. The questionnaire and interview are collected mainly from the 19 university libraries in Taipei at one time. The study creates better understanding of CMARC utilization, and gets some feedback for the authority.
According to our results in this study, one may draw conclusions in the following:
1.Most of all the university libraries use CMARC to catalog Chinese materials and using MARC 21 to catalog foreign materials.
2.University libraries choose MARC formats which is affected by policies, trends, systems and cataloging environment.
3.Defects of CMARC do not hinder the usage of CMARC.
4.CMARC must follow the tide of cataloging, and we should make sure that the characters of Chinese materials are completed within all over the cataloging rules.
Based on the conclusions above, two suggestions for whether we maintain CMARC or not are raised as follows:
1. To maintain CMARC, we should hold a permanent organization to keep CMARC is updated with time, and enhance well-communicated with whole environment.
2. To adopt other MARC formats, which reduce cost of cataloging and expand visibility scale of library collection.
