In the patriarchy society, men are in a dominant position while women in a subordinate one. Men created female images by their subjective point of view, with discrimination and prejudice against women. The family of Pascual Duarte by Cela and The Butcher’s wife by Li Ang are not the same type novels with different standpoint, but those female images in both of them seem to have been deprived and oppressive by the patriarchy. Therefore this study intends to reveal the patriarchy consciousness in those two novels by applying the feminist literary criticism. And analyze those female characters from a feminist point of view to find out those women’s experiences which have been distorted or ignored consciously or unconsciously by authors. The conclusion shows that woman whether in the east or west is inferior to men, and gender equality between men and women is still far from achieving.
