This research aims to first find out what difficulty students encounter in mastering Chinese idioms, and then the converse relationship that students have as to the frequency of contacting with idioms. Also, we dedicate to probe the students’average degree when comprehending idioms and the transparency of the opposite relation. From intermediate to advanced level, students have similar abilities distinguishing Chinese idioms. That is to say, more complicated grammar and vocabularies fail students to increase better understanding of Chinese idioms.
