Accompanying with the domestic economic development and the enhancement of national income, the ownerships of cars and motorcycle increase very rapidly, which then pushes up the energy demand in the transportation sector. Currently, the petroleum consumption of the transportation sector in Taiwan is ranked as the 2nd major users. Amongst this petroleum consumption, road transportation petroleum demand accounts for 82.68% of total transportation petroleum use, which accentuates the important role of petroleum demand in the transportation sector. Gasoline and diesel are two main fuels for transportation petroleum demand in Taiwan. Recent petroleum price rapidly up side down brings great impacts on the gasoline and diesel market. This phenomenon is worthy for more researches. Our study plans to investigate those factors for influencing the road petroleum demand but focuses more on the gasoline and diesel. After building up a suitable model, our study will examine those gasoline and diesel consumption in 25 providences from 2000 to 2007. Hope our results may shed some lights for government policy making.
