The analytical method and Galerkin’s method with beam functions are used to solve the uniform and nonuniform beams with restrained boundary conditions and carrying intermediate masses and are subjected to an axial tensile or compressive force. The effects due to the degree of rotational and translational constraints, variation of the beam depth, magnitude of intermediate mass and its location, and axial tensile or compressive force are examined in detail. Some of the results are compared with different methods, and agreement between them is obtained.
