Introduction: 本系於民國八十六年成立，初名為應用日語學系，於民國八十八年更名為應用日語系。本系發展之特色為脫離以往日本語文學系注重日本語學、文學之研究，而朝向經貿理論、實務及應用日語並重之方向發展。加強日語「聽、說、讀、寫、譯」五技之訓練，注重實務經驗之傳承，以培養經貿、秘書及觀光旅運日語人材為重點。並促進國際交流，積極鼓勵學生平日與日本留華學生多做語言交換學習，指導學生與日本訪華團體等進行交流，並舉辦暑期赴日修習學分及半年或一年的留學。本系於95學年度已停止招生。

The department of Practical Japanese cultivates the use of the Japanese language for international trade, economics, tourism, and clerical work. The Department is characterized by its departure from the traditional academic emphasis on literature and linguistics. Practice and applications of the Japanese language is the main focus, with emphasis on speaking, listening, writing and translation. The Department of Practical Japanese encourages exchange programs with Tamkang University’s sister schools in Japan each summer, and sends students to local businesses to gain experience as trainees. We have the stop recruitment of students on 2006 academic year.
