    摘要: By the news from local evening newspaper, The Library of Congress, Harvard University Harvard-yenching Library and Yale University Library will establish special collections for Chinese Democracy Movement, the author points out that information in academic networks such as Soc . Culture . China in USENET, China-Net in STANFORD. EDU and China-NN (China News Network ) and China-ND (China News Digest) in BITNET should be covered in them. The importance, characteristics, distribution, maintenance, access as well as acquisition of information in academic networks are described, and the following are concluded: 1. the collection size between large and small libraries will be blurred under academic networks environment; 2. bibliographic control for information in academic networks should be urged to implement; 3. most information in academic networks are acquired by request, i.e. free of charge; 4 the unit of information in academic networks is file, and it is identified by file name and file type; 5. key elements for building library collection from academic networks are completely different from traditions; 6. new cooperation activities for acquiring information in academic networks will be appeared.
