The use of microforms and the establishment of microform system among public and private institutions in Taiwan have become more and more popular nowadays. According to the 1978 survey in Taiwan area, the capitals being invested into this enterprise has amount to one billion NT dollars. Whereas there is no unanimously agreement upon the standard on microform specification. The paper is intended to discuss such problems as the production and processing of microform, the quality standard and conditions for long-term preservation, which will be of the basis for the establishment of national standard.
