Hypermedia makes it possible for learners to explore interactive multimedia- based instructional system. However, what makes the system unique in the long history of educational media is its potential for interactivity. Taking the point of view of instruction, this article discussed the meaning of interactivity, the definition of learner control and the potential of overuse. Principles of designing learner control of multi-media courseware were also provided.
