拜資訊科技之賜，不論是中文抑是西文的聯網書目資料庫，都能讓我們憑藉強有力的資訊檢索工具，很容易而且快速地查檢到想要的資訊。屬於文字的資訊四述隨手可得的，但是非文字的、圖、像、影像為主視覺資源的取得尤其在國內，似乎不是那麼容易。本文討論視覺資源的編目問題，並就資料標準的三種型態(包括資料結構、資料內容及資料值)，述及國外視覺資源資料標準的發展。國內視覺資料標準的發展是迫切的、刻不容緩的。視覺資源的存藏單位除了圖書館外，還包括稅館、博物館、檔案館等。如何使各界的力量凝聚在一起，有賴國家最高行政機關的重視級領導，如果要分項絕資源，國內圖書館界有必要更加積極參加與視覺資源資料標準的發展。 The emergence of information technology has resulted in powerful information retrieval tools. By now, we can easily and quickly retrieve and access the verbal information whatever we want, whether in Chinese or western bibliographic networks. But not the visual information, especially in Taiwan. In this paper, the cataloging problems of visual resources are described. The author also discussed about the development of data standards in the foreign countries. There are three types of data standards: data structure, data content, and data value. Data standards are fundamental to the exchange of visual information. To share visual information, we need data standards here. To explore the possibilities for coordinated access to visual resources in Taiwan, all the curators of visual resource collections, including librarians, museum curators, and archivists, should work together.
