    Abstract: 一般預料，XML將繼HTML之後，成為新一代Web的整合技術，為 網路帶來第二波革命性的改變，促使網路從資訊處理階段跨越到知識管理階段， 並將在電子出版、電子商務、電子圖書館、電子資料交換、遠距教學等領域展現 其強大的應用潛能。本文旨在探討XML如何有效的表達網路上各種知識，為資 料的交換和處理提供新的機制；並試圖從電子出版的角度著眼，說明電子文件組 成要素，分析目前Web出版的現況，從而深入瞭解現今Web所遭遇的困境與瓶 頸；接著基於文件存取、整合、傳遞、操縱、顯示等議題，提出一個整合式XML 文件管理系統架構，並探討XML相關技術，諸如DTD、XML Schema、XML Namespaces、RDF、XLink、DOM、CCS、XSL等，在此一架構中所扮演的角色 及功能，進而描繪出Web未來發展之趨勢與輪廓。
