Abstract: The main theme of this paper is to propose a fuzzy Logic controller (FLC) and implement it on a complex programmable logic device (CPLD). One application of this is to control the output voltage of a dc motor fan out driving circuit so as to regulate the fan speed at certain preset values. An A/D converter is used to acquire the output voltage of the dc motor fan out driving circuit. The FLC mainly consists of a fuzzifier muldule, a rule-based module, an inference engine module, and a defuzzifier module. The role of the FLC chip is to provide an appropriate pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to the driving circuit of the dc motor for fan speed control. The fuzzy control method presented is quite flexible and applicable to different types of dc motors, making the motor-driving system stable and operate efficiently.
