This paper presents the preliminary results, using first-order Lax finite difference scheme, to study the gas-solid combustion physics in a gun tube with a mobile projectile. One dimensional analysis is conducted for the time being. Space-sharing interspersed continual assumption is made in this study. Noble-Abel gas equation of state, molecular viscosity and thermal conductivity, interphase drag, heat transfer relation, and burning rate correlation for propellants form a set of constitutive equation. The developing computer code is used to predict the pressure wave build-up and flame front acceleration existing in a gun barrel full granulated solid propellants.
