The finite element - transfer matrix (FETN) method is extendea to the static analysis of orthotropic laminated plates by using the higher-order plate theory. Their use reduces the number of unknowns occuring in the standard finite element analysis. To avoid the numerical instabilities due to the sequential matrix multiplication, a modified version of FETM method is also presented. The accuracy of the present formulation is demostrated through several benchmark problems.
