    被動光網路系統近期發展正朝向更高資料速率及遠距離傳輸,其中以分波多工被動光網路(Wavelength-Division-Multiplexed Passive Optical Network, WDM-PON)為最吸引人的方案。為了降低WDM-PON系統的成本,已有許多無色光源WDM-PON架構被提出。此外,在光網路單元(Optical Network Unit, ONU)中反射式半導體光放大器(Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier, RSOA)是一種非常普遍使用的無色光源。
    因此在本論文中我們提出新式基於RSOA的WDM-PON架構,使用10 Gbps直調雷射作為光線路端 (Optical Line Terminal, OLT)的光發射機,單顆1.25 Gbps RSOA作為ONU端的光發射機,以及法布里-珀羅濾波器作為波形整形器,其透射與反射濾波可用來達成同時明滅比提升與資料抹除的功能。在實驗上,以誤碼率量測證實上/下行訊號的效能均可獲得改善。在25公里光纖傳輸及誤碼率10-9的要求下,明滅比已提升的10 Gbps下行訊號可改善1.8 dB的功率償付值。在1.25 Gbps上行訊號方面,以資料抹除方式入射RSOA較以連續波方式只增加了0.5 dB的功率償付值,而資料抹除方式比沒有資料抹除方式改善了1.4 dB的功率償付值。
    最後我們提出新式基於RSOA的WDM-PON之保護架構,饋送光纖(Feeder Fiber)與分佈光纖(Distribution Fiber)同時皆可獲得保護。
    Abstract:
    The latest development in passive optical network systems is evolving toward higher data rates and long-reach transmission distances, where wavelength-division-multiplexed passive optical networks (WDM-PONs) can be very attractive solutions. In order to reduce the cost of WDM-PON system, many WDM-PON architectures with colorless light were proposed. Additionally, an reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) is a very popular colorless source to be utilized in an optical network unit (ONU).
    Thus in this thesis we proposed novel WDM-PON architectures based on RSOAs, which use 10 Gbps directly modulated lasers (DMLs) as the transmitters of an OLT, a single 1.25 Gbps RSOA as a transmitter of an ONU and Fabry-Perot filters as waveform reshapers, whose transmission and reflection filtering can be utilized to achieve the functions of simultaneous extinction ratio enhancement and data erasion. In experiments, the bit-error-rate (BER) measurement verifies the performance enhancement to the downstream and upstream signals. After transmission of 25 km and at the requirement for BER=10-9, for 10-Gbps downstream signal the decrease in the power penalty is better than 1.8 dB and for 1.25-Gbps upstream signal only 0.5 dB power penalty is observed by comparing the result with the re-modulated upstream signals using an additional CW pilot light. Compared to the transmission without data erasion, our scheme reduces the power penalty by about 1.4 dB.
    Finally we proposed the protection architecture of novel RSOA-based WDM-PON, whose feeder fibers and distribution fibers can be protected simultaneously.
